Marcia Pankratz

Marcia Pankratz is the founder and owner of 4Goals Consulting Group. She started the business in 2005 and has been successfully running camps, clinics, and seminars ever since.

Currently, Marcia is the Head Field Hockey Coach at the University of Michigan. In her 13 seasons, she has guided the program to eight Big Ten Championships, five Big Ten Tournament Championships, 11 NCAA appearances winning the National Championship in 2001.

The winningest coach in Wolverine field hockey history, Pankratz is tied for the most Big Ten Coach of the Year awards (five), receiving the honor in 1997, 2000, 2002, 2010 and 2011. Pankratz was also awarded NFHCA West Region Coach of the Year honors in 1999, 2000 and 2003.

A 1988 and 1996 Olympian and two-time Pan American Silver Medalist, Marcia was first named to the U.S. National Team in 1985. She spent nine years with U.S.


Field Hockey team (1985-90, 1994-96), playing in 110 international matches, highlighted by competition in seven high-profile tournaments — the Champion’s Trophy team (1995), the Pan-American team (1995, ’87), the World Cup team (1986, ’94) and the U.S. Olympic team (1988, ’96). Pankratz helped the U.S. to a pair of silver medals in the 1985 and 1987 Pan American Games, as well as the bronze medal at the 1994 World Cup. As a result of her accomplishments on the international scene, Pankratz was inducted into the United States Field Hockey Association Hall of Fame in 2004.

A collegiate standout at the University of Iowa (1982-85), Pankratz was twice honored as Iowa’s Female Athlete of the Year and as a Honda Broderick Sports Award field hockey finalist (1985, ’86), Pankratz was also the recipient of Iowa’s 1986 Big Ten Medal of Honor as the university’s top academic and athletic graduating senior.


Deb Brickey

Deb is the Vice President and Director of Operations for 4Goals, llc. She has been directing and coaching camps with 4Goals since 2006.

Deb also is the founder and owner of HTC Field Hockey Club, She travels the country extensively promoting field hockey through camps, clinics, and tournaments. Deb has over 13 years of field hockey coaching experience as a Head Coach at Northwestern University and Virginia Commonwealth University and as an Assistant Coach at the University of Connecticut and the University of North Carolina.

As a graduate of the University of Iowa, Deb earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education and Exercise Science. While a student athlete at Iowa, she was selected a two-time All-American and a three- time All-Big Ten Player.

Deb represented the United States as a member of the National Team, competing all over the world.

Prior to returning to coaching, Deb was a Senior Manager for 11 years with FedEx Office in the Connecticut Region.


Darren Smallhorn

Darren has been coaching with 4Goals since 2009. He brings a tremendous amount of expertise, experience, and enthusiasm to each 4Goals camp and clinic. Darren is in his 8th year as The University of Connecticut Club Team Head Coach. Under his leadership, the Club team went from a 1-11 season to winning the 2009 National Title in the National Field Hockey League. He is certified by USFHA as a Level II coach and Level II Umpire. He has been a USFHA Future’s coach for 4 years.

Darren was a member of the Men’s Junior National Team, as well as, the Men’s Senior National Team Training Squad. He was selected as a participant in the High Performance Training Centers and Men’s National Championships since its inception. His international experience also includes playing for Australian Doncaster’s Club 2nd team for 3 seasons. While in Australia he was awarded the young player of the league award. He also trained in Argentina at the U21 Tucuman Club.

Darren graduated from The University of Connecticut with a double major of Coaching-Administration and Nursing. He also works as a Technician at DaVita dialysis in Vernon.
